Via Cameron

Pilates, taught slowly, in Glasgow.

Small morning classes in Merchant City and private sessions on request. I teach people how to breathe, and how to stop apologising to their own spine.

How I teach

I came to Pilates through the body, not through sport. At twenty I had stopped feeling at home in mine, and holding a posture until my head went quiet was the first thing that worked. That is still the whole method, really: breath, alignment, attention. The rest is detail.

Classes are small on purpose. I would rather watch six people properly than count to thirty. I correct quietly, in passing, the way you would straighten a picture frame. Nobody gets humiliated for a stiff hip. Someone who is clumsy and trying is far more interesting to me than someone who is perfect and performing.

You do not need to be flexible, young, thin, or any good. You need to turn up, and you need to breathe out. I can take it from there.

Classes

Morning mat classes

Weekday mornings at a small studio on Virginia Street, Merchant City. Mixed level, six to eight people, fifty-five minutes. Mats and props provided.

Private sessions

One to one, for people coming back from injury, people who hate groups, or people who simply want to be watched closely for an hour. By arrangement.

I do not run online bookings. Places are arranged in person, at the studio, after a first class. Glasgow weather is not a valid excuse; I have checked.

A last word

Turn up, breathe out, and let Glasgow rain on someone else for an hour. That is the whole offer.
